Grammy-Nominated Rapper Megan Thee Stallion Fosters Mainstream Adoption With A $1 Million Bitcoin Giveaway

American Grammy-nominated rapper Megan Thee Stallion is giving out $1 million worth of bitcoin to her fans on Twitter, and the value of this reward could increase significantly during this bull market. This giveaway is a result of a partnership with Square’s Cash App.

The rapper announced the promotional campaign in a Dec. 17 tweet. At the time of publication, the post has garnered 9.4K retweets and 65.2K likes. All you have to do to receive some bitcoin is post “BITCOINMEG” and provide your Cash App name.

Meg, however, does not clarify how much bitcoin each person will receive. But most people have responded to the tweet, noting that they had received 50,000 satoshis — this amounts to around $11.39 at press time. By the time the giveaway is over, however, the bitcoin price could be worth much more than the current $22,991.84.

In a follow-up tweet, the rapper encouraged her followers to keep sharing their Cash App details as bitcoin “is a really smart investment and increases over time”.

For those unaware, Cash App is a digital payments service developed by Square, which is led by staunch bitcoin evangelist Jack Dorsey, who doubles as Twitter CEO. Megan Thee Stallion has become a household name after she teamed up with Beyonce and Cardi B earlier this year for separate music projects. Megan also received four Grammy nominations last month.

The submissions for the giveaway are already pouring in with most of the rapper’s followers claiming they registered on Cash App specifically to participate in the BTC giveaway.

Bitcoin Giveaways Are A Common Way Of Promoting Mainstream Adoption

Most pundits argue that giveaways are important in order to promote bitcoin adoption among people who know little (or nothing) about crypto. This is because people tend to be emotionally invested in the success of the cryptocurrency if they have skin in the game.

Popular bitcoin advocates Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss of Gemini exchange offered a prize of 1 BTC in a contest back in July last year, in hopes of catapulting bitcoin into the mainstream.

Unlike the infamous Justin Sun botched Tesla giveaway, the Winklevii giveaway was largely a success — and so has Megan’s. Some of her fans revealed that they plan to do some thorough research on crypto after receiving their very first bitcoin.
